Char Siu - Chinese Barbecue Pork

INGREDIENTS :
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup sherry or sake
  • dash of Chinese five spice powder
  • 1~2 tbsp. Hoisin Sauce
PROCEDURE :
  • Boil for at least 30 minutes.
  • Mix all the ingredients for marinade and marinate the spareribs for a few hours, turning them occasionally so that the meat is marinated evenly.
  • Line the spareribs on a cookie sheet and bake at 350F for 45 ~ 60 minutes. Brush them with marinade every 10 or 15 minutes, or barbecue.
